About Vanuatu

The Republic of Vanuatu is a sovereign island nation in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, consisting of an archipelago of 13 principals and many smaller islands which are located about 800km west of Fiji and 1,770 km east of Australia.

Previously jointly administered by the United Kingdom and France as New Hebrides, Vanuatu achieved independence from both in 1980. As such, it is a full member of the British Commonwealth with Elizabeth II as its monarch, as well as a member of the United Nations, Organization internationale de la Francophonie, and the Pacific Islands Forum.

Meaning “Our Land Forever” in many of the locally used Melanesian languages and ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world, Vanuatu boasts a fascinating mix of traditional culture and modern infrastructure, with the resorts and restaurants of the capital contrasting with the ancient tribal life on outer islands. The only citizen-by-investment program in the Asia-Pacific region, currently Vanuatu offers the world’s fastest and easiest path to obtaining a second citizenship and access to the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The Development Support Program was established by the government of Vanuatu in 2017. The aim of the program is to provide and facilitate the attraction of foreign investors, as Vanuatu has issued all necessary regulations and legislation and put them into effect in support of this program.  Indeed, Vanuatu went so far as to change its constitution to recognize dual nationality that was not recognized until the constitution was changed by a two-thirds majority of Parliament members in December 2012.
